Background
Organized as part of The 10th International Conference on Economic Management and Green Development (ICEMGD 2026), this session delves into the dual impact of climate mitigation efforts on the blue economy energy sector. Blue economy is covering a significant share of the labor market and its sectors serves numerous local communities, not only coastal ones. Furthermore, the economic output generated by blue economy have a relevant share of the nations’ total. In light of climate change mitigation and the efforts for advancing green transition, the blue economy-related energy sector is affected differently. On one hand the push to phase-out fossil fuels shrink off-shore oil and gas exploitation, while on the other hand off-shore wind farms are a part of the efforts to increase the share of renewable sources of energy and hence, play a significant role of greening the sector.
