Background
This symposium, part of the 10th International Conference on Economic Management and Green Development (ICEMGD 2026), addresses the urgent need for governance innovation amidst contemporary societal challenges. Governance systems across the world are increasingly challenged by complex social, economic, and environmental transformations. Rapid technological change, climate risks, globalization, and increasing public expectations demand innovative policy approaches and adaptive institutional structures. Traditional governance models often struggle to respond effectively to these evolving societal dynamics. Consequently, rethinking governance mechanisms and policy innovation has become essential for improving institutional responsiveness and long-term societal resilience. Contemporary approaches emphasize evidence-based policymaking, digital governance, cross-sector collaboration, and inclusive decision-making processes. This workshop aims to examine emerging governance frameworks and innovative policy strategies that enable institutions to effectively respond to societal challenges while supporting sustainable and equitable development outcomes.
Goal/Rationale
The workshop aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to critically examine evolving governance models and innovative policy responses to societal challenges. Increasing uncertainty in economic, technological, and socio-political environments requires governments and institutions to reconsider traditional administrative and policy approaches. This workshop will explore how governance innovation, institutional reform, digital transformation, and collaborative leadership contribute to effective policymaking and improved public service delivery. Particular emphasis will be placed on challenges faced by developing and emerging economies where governance capacity, institutional coordination, and implementation effectiveness remain significant concerns. By fostering dialogue between academic researchers and practitioners, the workshop seeks to promote knowledge exchange, encourage empirical and conceptual research contributions, and identify practical governance strategies that strengthen institutional resilience and societal well-being.
Scope and Information for Participants
The workshop welcomes conceptual, empirical, and policy-oriented research contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following themes: Governance innovation and institutional reforms, Policy innovation and evidence-based policymaking, Digital governance and smart public administration, Institutional resilience and crisis management, Governance for sustainable development, Ethics, transparency, and accountability in institutions, Collaborative governance and stakeholder engagement, Governance challenges in developing and emerging economies. Researchers, policymakers, doctoral scholars, and practitioners are encouraged to submit research papers, case studies, and policy analyses contributing to governance transformation and institutional effectiveness.
